After a long hiatus, football is back! Canadian Football that is. The season opens up in Montreal as they Alouettes play host to the Roughriders. After a difficult 2016 campaign in which they finished 5-13, the Roughriders turn the ball over to Quarterback Kevin Glenn who incidentally started for the Allouetes for part of 2016.

Glenn has plenty of receivers to go to in the three down CFL, and will rely heavily on former Buffalo Bill, Naaman Roosevelt who caught 76 passes for 1095 yards last season. Duron Carter, son of NFL Legend Cris, joins the Roughriders from the Alouettes and caught 61 passes for 938 yards last season. Former Arizona State Standout Cameron Marshall returns from injury and is the top runner for the Roughriders.
After going 7-11, last season, the Montreal Alouettes are hoping for more in 2017. Quarterback Darian Durant joins the Alouettes from the Roughriderrs and should stabilize the position while the Alouettes assess whether former Oregon standout Vernon Adams Jr. can become a serviceable starter at some point.

Following a Grey Cup victory with the Ottawa Redblacks, Wideout Ernest Jackson joins the the Alouettes. Jackson had an oustanding year last season and caught 88 passes for 1225 yards and 10 touchdowns. With the return of Running Back Tyrell Sutton from injury and steady future CFL Hall of Famer, Nik Lewis lining up in the slot, the Montreal offense should be much improved in 2017.

Clearly the better offense is Montreal and early in the CFL season that is difference in not only the win but the ATS cover for us bettors. Home field advantage isn't as big as say NFL but it's a nice bonus for the better offense as well. Final Score Prediction, Montreal Alouettes win and cover ATS 31-22.
