Montreal Alouettes at Toronto Argonauts 6/16/22 - CFL Picks & Predictions

The Montreal Alouettes visit the Toronto Argonauts for a CFL Week 2 matchup. Montreal opened its regular season last Thursday with a 30-27 loss to the Calgary Stampeders. Montreal led Calgary at halftime 24-17, but the Alouettes were held to just a field goal after halftime and gave up 16 points to the Stampeders to lose by three on the road on opening day.

Through one game of the regular season Montreal quarterback Vernon Adams has passed for 250 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The leading rusher is Jeshun Antwi with 98 yards while Adams has one rushing touchdown. The leading receiver is Eugene Lewis with seven receptions for 112 yards and William Stanback is the only Montreal player with a touchdown reception.

Toronto did not play during Week 1 of the CFL and will be opening its regular season at home on Thursday against Montreal. In two preseason games, Toronto was defeated by the Ottawa Redblacks 23-17 and defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 18-17. In the victory over the Tiger-Cats, Toronto starting quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson passed for 187 yards. 

Last season, McLeod bethel-thompson passed for 2,303 yards with 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The leading rusher returning from last year for Montreal is John White IV, who rushed for 450 yards and one touchdown. Ricky Collins Jr. returns for Montreal at wide receiver and last season caught 55 passes for 642 yards and will be joined by Kurleigh Gittens Jr, who last season caught 50 receptions for 605 yards and four touchdowns.
