Two teams with the longest droughts in winning the Grey Cup meet in Calgary on Sunday when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 6:00 pm ET. Winnipeg ended its season third in the West at 11-7. The Blue Bombers beat the Calgary Stampeders 35-14 in a West division semifinal and then ousted the West division regular season winner Saskatchewan 20-13 in the West Final to reach the Grey Cup.
Quarterback Zach Collaros has returned and led the Blue Bombers to the win over the Roughriders. Collaros during the regular season threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Kenny Lawler is the top target with 43 receptions for 637 yards and four touchdowns, while Andrew Harris leading the ground attack with 1,380 yards and four touchdowns.
Hamilton owned the CFL’s best regular season record at 15-3 and easily disposed of Edmonton in the East Final last Sunday 36-16. The Tiger-Cats are led by wide out Brandon Banks and an offense that averages nearly 400 yards per game. Dane Evans is 11-2 since taking over for the injured Jeremiah Masoli at quarterback when the Cats were 5-1.
During the regular season Dane Evans has thrown for 3,754 yards, 20 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, including 386 yards and one touchdown last week in the win over Edmonton. Cameron Marshall leads all running backs for Hamilton with 307 yards, while Brandon Banks has 1,550 yards receiving.
