Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts 6/18/23 - CFL Picks & Predictions
Game Start: 6/18/2023, 11:00 PM UTC

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats look to bounce back from a loss with a victory on the road Sunday when visiting the Toronto Argonauts. Hamilton was defeated by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 42-31 in their season opener. Although Hamilton lost by 11 points, the TIger-Cats rallied late in the game outscoring Winnipeg 27-10 down the stretch but could not overcome its 28 point deficit, falling short by 11 points.

Hamilton quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell passed for 197 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, while the leading rusher was James Butler with 66 yards and one touchdown. Tim White was the leading receiver with 71 yards and one touchdown reception, while D’Haquille Williams caught three passes for 53 yards with a long of 41 yards.

Toronto will be making its 2023 CFL debut at home on Sunday when hosting Hamilton. The defending Grey Cup champions were idle in Week 1 of the regular season. Quarterback Chad Kelly is the key for Toronto's offense after McLeod Bethel--Thompson left the Argonauts to play for the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL. Kelly will have pressure on his shoulders as the Toronto fans will expect nothing less than another Grey Cup win this season.

AJ Willett and Andrew Harris return to the Toronto backfield, while wide receiver Markeith Ambles is also back as are Kurleight Gittens Jr and DaVaris Daniels giving the Argonauts a very deep receivers corps. David Ungerer III joins Toronto from Hamilton which adds depth to the wide receiver unit. Defensive back Chris Edwards is gone but the Argonauts added Adarius Pickett, who was selected as the outstanding defensive player in 2022 from Montreal.
