Tiger-Cats vs Stampeders Prediction

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday in the opening game of the 2025 CFL regular season for both teams. Hamilton finished the 2024 regular season 7-11. The Tiger-Cats won five of their last seven last season but missed the playoffs. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell returns. Last season, Mitchell led the CFL in passing yards with 5,451 and touchdowns with 32. Keep up to date with all the CFL action with our expert CFL picks.

Hamilton will have a formidable wide receiver corps in 2025, after adding Kenny Lawler to the mix in the offseason. Hamilton lost running back James Butler and wide receiver Stephen Dunbar Jr., but should remain one of the top offenses in the league. Hamilton also improved its defense with the addition of two members of the secondary, Reggie Stubblefield and DaShaun Amos.

The Calgary Stampeders finished the 2024 season 5-12-1 and missed the playoffs. Calgary added to its offense with the addition of quarterback Vernon Adams Jr, and wide receivers Tevin Jones and Dominique Rhymes. Calgary has a below-average offensive line, and that could hurt Adams and the Stampeders’ passing game with below-average pass protection.

The defense was able to add end Folarin Orimolade, but lost interior lineman Mike Rose. Calgary also lost end Julian Howsare and four defensive backs. Calgary is once again expected to finish with the worst record in the CFL, as they have done in each of the last two seasons. A new quarterback under center will not be enough to offset the weak defense.

Tiger-Cats vs Stampeders Pick Analysis

Hamilton finished last season strong, winning five of the last seven and covered the number in six of their final eight. In contrast, Calgary lost four of its last five straight up and against the spread. Calgary lost several players from its already weak secondary and will have a hard time stopping Hamilton's quarterback, Bo Levi Mitchell, who led the CFL in passing yardage and touchdowns last season. Final Score Prediction: Hamilton Tiger-Cats win and cover ATS 30-21.
