Elks vs Lions Prediction

On Saturday, the Edmonton Elks visit the BC Lions in the opening game of the 2025 CFL regular season for both teams. Edmonton finished the 2024 CFL regular season 7-11 and missed the playoffs. Edmonton lost each of its first seven games last season before winning seven of the final 11. Edmonton added to its offensive attack with the addition of quarterback Cody Fajardo, who will begin the season as the backup. The Elks overhauled the roster, as well as hired a new head coach. Keep up to date with all the CFL action with our CFL picks.

Tre Ford is expected to start under center for Edmonton, and the young, talented QB will have two new targets to throw to in Alexander Collins and Steven Dunbar Jr. Edmonton improved on defense with the additions of Jake Ceresna, Robbie Smith, Jared Brinkman, Brandon Barlow, Tyrell Ford, and Royce Metchie. Edmonton is expected to improve on its seven wins from last season.

The BC Lions finished the 2024 CFL regular season 9-10. BC was one of the league’s most disappointing teams last season after beginning with five wins in its first six games before losing eight of its final 12. The Lions lost to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West Division semifinals. BC has a new head coach in Buck Pierce, and the roster has had a huge turnover.

BC added right tackle Dejon Allen to help with pass protection. Quarterback Nathan Rourke returns after a disappointing season in 2024. Defensive end Mathieu Betts struggled last season, but with a full training camp this season is expected to lead the Lions on that side of the line of scrimmage. BC is expected to win the West Division and make a deep run in the postseason.

Elks vs Lions Pick Analysis

The BC Lions are expected to win the Western Division of the CFL with a very strong defense, and therefore, the play here is UNDER. The UNDER has cashed in five of BC’s last six. Last season, the UNDER cashed in each of the two games that Edmonton and BC played head-to-head. The UNDER has cashed in five of the last six between the two West rivals. Last season, BC was fourth in points allowed. Final Score Prediction: BC Lions win but our best play is UNDER 27-17.
