Alouettes at Lions 6/16/18 - CFL Picks & Predictions

Following a tough season in which they went 3-15, the Montreal Alouettes are hoping for a brighter 2018. The Alouettes open the 2018 season on the road in Vancouver against the B. C. Lions.

Veteran Drew Willy is slated to start at quarterback for the Alouettes after throwing for 547 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in limited duty for the Alouettes last season. Chris Williams figures to be Willy's top target after coming over from B.C. in a trade earlier this year. Williams caught 38 passes for 415 yards and 1 touchdown last season. B. J. Cunningham is an additional player to watch for Montreal and caught 69 passes for 1128 yards and 4 touchdowns last season. Following a tough 7-11 season last year, the B.C. Lions are hoping for more in 2018. Playing in the competitive Western Division, each and every game counts for the Lions and a win against Montreal to open the season is almost a must.

Jonathon Jeenings is back at Quarterback for the Lions after throwing for 3639 yards, 16 touchdowns and 19 interceptions last season. Jennings will need to cut down on his interceptions to be succesful this season. Manny Arceneaux returns at Slot Back for the Lions and aims to repeat a stellar 2018 in which he caught 100 passes for 1137 yards and 6 touchdowns. Jeremiah Johnson is an additional player to watch for B.C. and ran for 919 yards and 9 touchdowns last season.

If you base this on last season think Lions deserve to be big favorite but think Montreal has closed the gap with BC for 2018. Love getting big points in opening games of CFL season and think the Alouettes do plenty to cover this spread. Final Score Prediction, BC Lions win but fall short ATS 28-24.
