Alexander Hernandez vs Drew Dober 5/13/20 - UFC Fight Night - Jacksonville 1 Picks & Predictions

Alexander Hernandez squares off against Drew Dober in this fight. Hernandez does come in with a little bit of an advantage standing at 5’9 and with a 72 inch reach.  However, Hernandez is seen more as a striker and uses the Orthodox fighting stance.

In his last five fights Hernandez has ended up going 4-1, but has not looked that bad in the fights. In fact, one of those wins for Hernandez ended up with him getting a KO/TKO in the first round of the fight. The last fight was a unanimous decision win. The downside is that fight was in July and Hernandez has not stepped in a UFC ring since.

With Dober he is coming in using the Southpaw fighting stance, which is somewhat common on this fight night, but overall it is not that common to see. The other thing that is different for Dober, who is giving up a reach and height advantage is the fighting style. Unlike most of the fighters that we have looked at who use a striker stance, Dober is going to follow the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style.

Dober has had a more recent bout than Hernandez with a fight in January of this year. That fight ended in the first round with a KO/TKO and so did the fight in June of 2019. Even in the fights that ended up going 3 rounds,  he ended up winning by a unanimous decision. The one loss that Dober has had in his last 5 bouts came in May of 2019 and that ended in the second round due to submission.

The fight here is one that has contrasting stances and styles. However, the fighting that has been seen from Drew Dober is more recent and definitely going to come in with an advantage that he can fully use. Look for Dober to come in and while not the hard favorite is going to pull off what may be considered an upset win, but could also be seen as a win in a demanding fashion with how he pulls it off. UFC Fight Night Winner, Drew Dober.
