Formula One 2020 Drivers Championship – Betting Odds, Picks, & Predictions
The 2020 Formula One season is fast approaching with the Australian Grand Prix set to kick off the new campaign on Sunday, March 15. Lewis Hamilton won the Drivers Championship last year, and the Brit is once again the overwhelming favorite this time around.
However, as we’ve seen in pre-season testing, the Mercedes man may not find things as straightforward as the odds suggest. Max Verstappen – the bookies’ second favorite – has a genuine chance of toppling Hamilton this season. Red Bull’s new RB16 has tested well throughout the off-season, so Verstappen will be confident of ending Hamilton’s dominance this year.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is also in with a shout this season. The 22-year-old finished fourth last year – ahead of teammate Sebastien Vettel – and showed signs that he’s developing into a world-class driver. With two wins and ten podium finishes to his name in 2019, expect Leclerc to enjoy another successful campaign.
Valtteri Botas claimed four wins last year, but he is nowhere near the level of fellow Mercedes driver Hamilton. Meanwhile, you can’t entirely write off Sebastian Vettel, although Ferrari’s poor pre-season has shown that Mercedes is once again streaks ahead of the Italian manufacturer.

Lewis Hamilton has won the Drivers Championship in five of the last six seasons, and the Brit can equal Michael Schumacher’s record of seven titles with another win in 2020. Max Verstappen looks set to be Hamilton’s main challenger this year, while Charles Leclerc, Valtteri Bottas, and Sebastien Vettel all have an outside chance of claiming the title. However, it’s difficult to look past Hamilton. I can’t see anyone stopping the Mercedes man from winning a fourth straight Drivers Championship title.
