British Grand Prix – 2020 F1 Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

You probably won’t be surprised to hear that Lewis Hamilton (-227) comes in the British Grand Prix as the bookies’ overwhelming favorite. The Mercedes man returns to his home track – Silverstone – having secured back-to-back triumphs at the Steiermark and Hungarian Grand Prix, so he’ll be eager to make it three wins in a row.

Hamilton has won five of the previous six British Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel (+10000) winning at Silverstone in 2018. However, judging by the odds, the bookies clearly don’t think that Ferrari’s German driver will trouble Hamilton this time around.

Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas is the second favorite heading into this race. The Fin won the opening race of the season in Austria before finishing second and third in his last two outings. Still, it would be a shock if Bottas pipped his ally to the post.

It feels like the bookies view Max Verstappen (+700) as the only other genuine challenger to Hamilton. After being forced to retire in Austria, the Red Bull prodigy has clinched a podium spot in the previous two races. He definitely stands an outside chance of securing his first won of the season in England, but it will be tough.

Sergio Perez (+2200) and Alexander Albon (+3300) have both shown promise in recent races, but neither man has been able to claim a podium finish so far this term. Perez has recorded consistent finishes of 6th, 6th, and 7th in 2020, while Albon’s highest finish this season is 4th.

Before I share my pick, let’s take a look at the odds.

2020 F1 British Grand Prix Winner Odds

  • Lewis Hamilton -227
  • Valtteri Bottas +225
  • Max Verstappen +700
  • Sergio Perez +2200
  • Alexander Albon +3300
  • Lance Stroll +3300
  • Carlos Sainz Jr +10000
  • Charles Leclerc +10000
  • Lando Norris +10000
  • Sebastian Vettel +10000
  • Daniel Ricciardo +50000
  • Esteban Ocon +100000
  • Pierre Gasly +100000
  • Daniil Kvyat +200000
  • Antonio Giovinazzi +250000
  • George Russell +250000
  • Kimi Raikkonen +250000
  • Kevin Magnussen +250000
  • Romain Grosjean +250000
  • Nicholas Latifi +300000

Granted, the odds are pretty low. But they are clearly low for a reason. Anything other than a Lewis Hamilton win on Sunday would undoubtedly be a big shock. The Brit has been in scintillating from so far this year, so I'm backing him to clinch his six win in seven years at Silverstone.
